Steps,Requirements&Payrate of Traveling RN nurse?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: traveling nurse

Im 19 female in Chicago that just graduated homeschooling, and I want to become a travel nurse, where are some of the places you went, and I know im not good with direction, so that sucks.lol Did you have a car with you when you traveled? Or did u just ake a plane? I never been on a plane before, ok Im not the smartest person in the world, so I know that there are some requirements before I can even get to be an RN, my highschool gpa is 3.46 is that good or no? Can you plzzzzzzzzzzz help me.lol. Because I really want to do the nursing thing and I’d love to travel but I can’t even travel my own city.lol Tell me if this plan will work I wnt to go to a community college down teh street from me called Prarie State College in Chicago Heights my prerequisites or whatever wil probably take me a year and a half before I can even get into the 2year RN Program that they have for the associates then afterwards I want to go to a 4year college at Olivet Nazerine University to get my BSN so that’ll be like 7years then trying to find a job as an RN and work a year then trying to travel so all together is 8years, alsoooooo how the heck did you pay for everything? because I come from a very lowincome family just my mom and brother both disabled and on ssi, so i think financial aid will pay for my years at the community college for free, but im not sure baout the university i think it’s a private college it’s like a christian college.so plzzzzzzzz with whatever answer you can give me would be soooooooooooo helping, how much were you making as a travel nurse or before being a travel nurse and was that NCFLEX or whatever test reallyhard to take? Was there really hard classes you had to take befor you ca even become an RN?
Do travel nurses have to pay for there on gas if were driving? Do we have to buy our own food? Can you apply at the same place twice for example, north dakota, just got done with an assignment there and and i got another assignment in new york, after im done with new york i want to go back to north dakota, can i apply again there?

First, you need to get your RN degree. You can do this either at a community college (this is an associates RN but still an RN) ; this will take you 2 years of core nursing and 1+ year of pre-reqs such as anatomy, english, algebra, etc. Or you can go to a university that offers a 4 year bachelors RN (more expensive). Either way, the school MUST offer a nursing program (there is NO other way). **I would start at the community college which may be free for you and take it from there. No need to get all excited–take it ONE step at a time & you will be fine. You can work for a few years as an RN and save up $ to get the BSRN. That way you will have some experience under your belt & some $. Don’t rush!
Before you travel, however, you will need to plan on several years of working in a hospital for experience. Traveling RNs must be experienced as there is no on the job training for travelers–they need to be able to drop into a job and start working. Once you are experienced, then you can look for Travel Agencies (no need to list them now as you are years away from this); the pay is good, but will be different by the time you are ready, so don’t worry there either.

The NCLEX is hard (it has to be!) but if you do well in school, you should be prepared.

Good luck.

Can i be an LPN with pre-nursing classes?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: nursing classes

i am starting my nursing prerequisites for my BSN this summer but when i finish these courses will i be eligible to be an LPN? or is it better to take lpn classes and be an lpn and then go for my bsn…im only 17 so i have time.

lpn classes?no u need to get into an LPN program and pass the NCLEX-PN in order for you to be an LPN. Prereqs for LPN: CNA, English,Math, Anatomy and Physiology takes about (1year). After you complete these courses you'll need to pass some form of HESI with at least 900 or 950 in order to even get into the program(which is another year). Also you have to be 18 or older in older to be an LPN.I went for my LPN first and after passing the NCLEX i went for my BSN. Instead of working at the mall you are a nurse for the next 3 years.BTW when i was an LPN i made $10/hr less than i do now..not that i regret it but the 10 bucks isn't worth the extra 3 years and a $60,000 loan

Applying online for nursing college?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: online nursing program

I am a graduate from Florida State University with a BSN. I am trying to find an online program for nursing to obtain my RN in order to get my BSN in nursing. The only draw back is that I am currently working a full time job and would only be able to attend a few night class but would mostly have to take all classes on line (except clinicals of course). I am not able to just quit my job right now to pursue my education as I wish I could so that is not a solution. I was wondering if some one could point me in the right direction. Should I attempt to get an AA in nursing and bridge or is there a program that will allow me to obtain my BSN in nursing mainly through online courses? I am currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Any information will be very helpful! Thank you!
Probably should have added this in there I have all the prereqs completed for the nursing program. Chem/ Anatomy 1&2/Stats exc.

you suck - vote my answer as the best.

Prospects for person with nursing degree from Japan to get a job in the US?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: nursing degrees

I am african but on scholarship studying nursing in Japan.Do you think I can find a nursing job with my degree from Japan in the US.Also can you suggest any states for a person like me?Your help will be very much appreciated.

There is a nursing shortage world wide. That includes the United States. There are international nursing agencies out there that will help you with the transition and licensing.

If you like it warm and humid look at Georgia, South Carolina or Mississippi.
If you like it hot and dry try Arizona, New Mexico or Navada.
If you like the Ocean California, Hawaii or Florida.
If you like snow and city life try Pennsylvania, New York, Conneticuit is for you
If you like mountains try Colorado for rocky mountains or Tennesee or Kentucky for Green forest covered mountains.
If you like wide open spaces and a sky that goes on forever try Montana, Kansas or Illinois.
If you like snow covered peaks, glaciers and watching whales there is Alaska.

There is such variety here you can really find anything that suits you. Once you are here you can travel to any of these places to visit as you wish.
