if got accepted to a 4 year college and currently doing my prerequisites for the nursing program, how can i get an associate’s degree first before getting a bsn in nursing? i want to get a job while in college and start building up my volunteer work.
Earning the associate degree simultaneously is not really possible as the BSN program is full time and you would have finished the BSN program by the time you earned the associate degree if you took the associate degree part time.
In any event, you would need permission from both colleges and it is unlikely that both would give it as you would need to study and attend class about 90 hours a week full time and there would probably be time conflicts between the class schedules.
The BSN program will include unpaid hands on training. You do not need additional volunteer work.
I suggest that you support yourself in nursing school by loans. The salary and job prospects of a BSN-RN allow for the repayment of loans without much difficulty.

I think I’d rather work in a nursing home as an RN, but is a BSN for that necessary? And do I get a degree in nursing school or do I need to go to a college and get my degree separately?
U can just have ur RN but a BSN is a plus.
Especially if u ever wanna move up to case management or np …u usually get a bsn if u go to a 4yr college..but not if u did a community college or a vocational/tech school so u can get it separately after

I know that I want to go into the nursing field. At first, I just wanted to get my Associate’s Degree but you get paid more if you have a Bachelor’s Degree.
I was just wondering how difficult it is to get your Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, an if the extra pay is even worth it? Opinions?
First of all, a BSN grad makes anywhere from 50 cents to 2 dollars more on the hour than an RN with an Associate Degree. ASN RN’s usually start off around $23-25 an hour.
Associate Degree programs are VERY competitive to get into and often have a wait list of a year or two for clinicals. There is a good chance you could earn a BSN in the same or SHORTER time it would take to earn an ASN these days.

if i get a bsn in nursing to become an rn in pediatric oncology and then go on to get my masters in health administration, what could i do with that? and what are potential salaries in texas and florida?
thanks so much!
Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. There are no nursing jobs. I have BSN grads and MSN grads…they can’t even find a job..and things will only get worse.
Look into a more respectable field. YOu will thank me in the future.

Sorry to tell you, it doesn’t work that way. Most BSN nurses can’t even land a job right now, and it will only get worse. I’m a nurse and getting out of the field. There are no jobs and it’s incredibly stressful/miserable. The pay is NOT high like people think it is. The government has brainwashed us into believing that there is a nursing shortage in order to create TONS of nurses and bring down the price on healthcare. Research it if you don’t believe me.
Nursing–the biggest mistake you will ever make. Don’t google "I hate nursing". It’s sad to see how other nurses feel.

I have a BS in finance but going back to school to get my 2nd bachelors or direct entry MSN. The nursing programs around me (California) are very competitive. I was just wondering what I can do while I’m taking my prereqs to make me stand out on my nursing school applications. Is it worth it to become a CNA or something like that?
It probably would be a good idea to do that. CNA programs have become a part of most nursing programs. It would show that you are good at working with patients.

I’m currently in college and I’m a Biology major. I know that for some nursing programs you need a BSN. Would my Biology degree fulfill this requirement? Thanks in Advance!!
Biology won’t cut it for a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). I also highly discourage you from going into nursing. There literally aren’t any jobs and most nurses truly are miserable. I cannot tell you how many people have come back to me and said "Ginny, you were right, this field is horrible". Most were smart and took the CNA route first. I’m getting out of nursing and going into Business. Much more respect, better hours, less stress.
If you’re gung-ho about nursing, don’t google "I hate nursing" or "No nursing jobs"…real nurses expose the truth.

Can I do 2 years of community college then transfer to a university? I want to become a Registered Nurse. Does the community college have to have special classes for nursing?
Of course you can most community colleges have specialized nursing programs. You can call your local community college and ask them what credits will transfer to the colleges you are interested in. At worst you will be able to get most of your gen eds out of the way. I hope this helps good luck with school!

BSN get paid more than RN’s even though BSN’s are RN’s as well. The difference is the schooling. BSN’s have to complete four years of nursing school.DO they both do the same type of work? What does it involve and how many hours do they work? How many days would they work in a hospital setting?
Nurses that have a BSN are able to advance in management quicker than those who don’t. That is really one of the biggest differences. In a hospital floor setting, nursing is nursing no matter the degree. Most nurses work 8-12 hours per day 3-5 days a week if full-time. In floor nursing most BSNs make only a little more than regular RNs ($0.25-$2.00/hour). Nursing is tough but can be very rewarding depending on your reasonfor being a nurse, If you want to be a nurse for the money or prestige it is not worth it. On the other hand if you really like to help people, and are willing to give a 100% of yourself toward making your patients better (physically, emotionally, spiritually, ect), then nursing might be right for you.
